After months of confinement and hardship, many of us are looking for opportunities to stretch out, to breathe at full lungs, to take a vacation, while keeping our distance. For this reason, Alicante rural tourism is an ideal destination to recharge our batteries after this long period of confinement.

When we think of Alicante, we think of beach, sun and sand; and rightly so, it is the magic of the Mediterranean. However, Alicante has much, much more. The inland villages, the mountain area and the rural environment, is simply amazing.

How can I get to Alicante: By car, train or plane?

If you decide to travel by car, plane or train, Alicante offers you all the possibilities of connection. Since it has the Alicante Train Station, it also has the Alicante Airport (ALC) in Elche. In addition, it has the main motorways that connect Alicante with the rest of the Valencian Community and Spain.

Because in addition to the attractions that the villages themselves have: natural parks, golf courses, museums, gastronomy and culture, Alicante rural tourism has more than 250 rural houses in different categories and for all tastes.

Alcoy

People who were the architects of the Spanish industrial revolution. It has three magical bridges worthy of admiration: The María Cristina Bridge, The Viaducto de Canalejas Bridge and The San Jorge Bridge. It also has the Font Roja Natural Park, located in the Sierra del Carrascal, which crowns the province of Alicante with the summit at more than 1,300 metres above sea level.

Ibi

This town is the epicentre of toy manufacturing in Spain. In keeping with its tradition, it not only houses the Valencian Toy Museum and the monument to the Three Kings; it also has the Toy Technology Institute, where children of all ages can access its toy library to learn about the history, design and manufacturing processes.

Villena

If you have travelled along the motorway from Alicante in the direction of Madrid, it is almost certain that on your right, the Atalaya Castle, has caught your attention; perhaps that is why it is the symbol of the town and a National Monument. As well as visiting the Moorish Quarter, you can see El Tesoro de Villena, the most important collection from the Bronze Age, on display at the Villena Archaeological Museum.

Novelda

With a long tradition in the shoe and spice industry. Novelda honours its patron saint and gives us the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Magdalena, a work inspired by the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. You can also visit the Modernist House-Museum, an approach to the modernism of Gaudí’s buildings in Barcelona.

Orihuela

During your visit to Orihuela, you can enjoy its 625 hectare palm grove and visit its four National Monuments: Santo Domingo School, the Cathedral, the Episcopal Palace and the Santa Justa Church. In addition to the Easter Museum.
